Sitecore 9.0 – Extra rel=”noopener noreferrer” substring is added to the markup when clicking Accept in Rich Text Editor

The editors keep reporting that there is an unexpected phrase rel=”noopener noreferrer” being added to the content after clicking Accept button of Rich Text Editor in Sitecore XP 9.0 Initial Release (aka Sitecore XP 9.0.0), something like the following one:

Asking our best friend Google, she replies that it should be a Sitecore bug. Personally, I’m thankful for this blog post by my fellow Sitecore MVP Mikael Högberg as I get everything I need to resolve the issue (especially for Sitecore patch)

Sitecore Patch(es)

Normally, we can request Sitecore patch if any via Sitecore Support Portal, however, you know, it will take for a while to get it. Besides, I don’t want to bother Sitecore Support team 😀 so I try my luck on https://github.com/SitecoreSupport by searching rel=”noopener”

and then get something useful 🙂

I also do the same on Sitecore Knowledge Base for sure and then search out this one

Both lead to this Sitecore patch so I download and then deploy it to the problematic Sitecore instance. So far so good!

Note

In this case, Sitecore version is 9.0 Initial Release so we can download and then deploy https://github.com/SitecoreSupport/Sitecore.Support.175841/releases/tag/8.2.5.0 as well

Happy Sitecore Patch!
